Implemented Feedback from a Trial User and they Converted

Most of the advice you see online when building your SaaS is not to implement feedback based on one user, and a lot of the time that may be correct. But you should also use your own judgement and if you feel that it benefits other customers, either now or in the future, then go for it. You should of course consider even if the idea might be a good one, if it takes too long to implement, then maybe reconsider if there’s other more beneficial ideas you can work on in a shorter time period.
Test Track has an ability to create Test Plans, and these test plans have a pre determined set of columns, Title, Description and Expected Result.
Test Plans can either be created from scratch or can be imported from an existing CSV file or Excel Spreadsheet, and map the columns in the spreadsheet to the columns available in Test Track.
Recently, a trial user signed up to Test Track, and they had a number of different columns extra to what Test Track included that they needed to keep in their test plans, therefore having this limitation would likely prevent them from using Test Track.
Add custom columns was on my roadmap already but hadn’t prioritised it, however after hearing this, made me realise this would be useful to implement, and also, makes it easier for other potential customers migrating over to Test Track and importing their existing plans.
I therefore took the decision to put my major re-write of Test Track on the back burner that I am currently working, and spent a week implementing the function for custom columns when creating a new Test Plan, or importing a test plan from a file.
As it took me a week, I extended the trial users trial, by an extra week and sent them a message that it was implemented so they could continue testing.
Good news, the trial user converted a paid customer.
